Emily Dickinson

by Emily

I’m nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there’s a pair of us — don’t tell!
They’d banish us, you know.
How dreary to be somebody!
How public, like a frog
To tell your name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

This has always been a favorite poem of mine. I share her name, and my mom gave me a book about her when I was younger, I thought she was a fascinating person. I still do. She wrote beautifully, it’s amazing how much she wrote during her life.
